It is a DC - and the mirror wouldn't build at all.
Is there no way of swapping out a faulty HD simply?

Here is the scenario:
2 servers, both running w2k3. One with E2k3. This manifested itself as an Exchange 2k3 issue, but I think it is really a win2k3 thang - hence the cross posting to both forums.
The exchange server has 2 hard disks - c: for the system, and D: for exchange - everything...
Here is the scenario:
2 servers, both running w2k3. One with E2k3.
The exchange server has 2 hard disks - c: for the system, and D: for exchange - everything exchange is stored on D:
Now - C: starts getting the odd bad block - so I figured I would add another HD and mirror both C & D, then...
Thanks again for your prompt reply.
I guess I must be doing something wrong - I set this setting on my email account (to test it), then sent an email outside of my domain, and it worked no problem at all.
Which is odd - because it looks like that "deny" should do the trick.

Hi! Thanks for the rapid reply.
On my E2k3 setup - I cannot see any smtp connectors - there is a calendar connector, but that is it.
This user, at the moment, collects his email either via IMAP or OWA - does that make any difference to the solution?

Is it possible to block a (or a group) of users from sending external mail?
I still want them to be able to receive mail, but not send any. They can send within the company, but not to external domains.
Many thanks.

Not yet - not fully.
Situation thus far is:
On old server, couldn't resurrect - so installed new server with E2k3 - which had some issues but seems to be work with new mail ok. The issues with the new server is that they couldn't find the offline address book - which is on the opld server - so...
How do you re-attach a mailbox to a user? I can remove the exchange attributes (losing all the email addresses etc - but I can live with that) - but then how to point the recovered mailbox to the user again?
Or do I just create a new mailbox on the new server, and use exmerge to copy the old...
Hi there. Current status - the exchange server failed to come back to life.
:(
They have a new box on the network, onto which I have installed Ex2k3 and this is running fine.
I have recovered the mailboxes from the old server and mounted these in a recovery storage group on the new server. I...

Urch.
Ok - back at it again today - all via remote desktop.
The re-install won't work - I get the message:
'The component "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services" cannot be assigned the action "Reinstall" because: - You must use the same edition of Microsoft Exchange Server...
Ok - ran forest and domain prep with no errors.
Rebooted the server, and the same errors are still there.
What is the next step?
On another note - if I can't get this fixed - what are your daily rates, and how long do you reckon it might take you to fix it? Assuming that you might be willing...
So, an in place "re-install" might do the trick?
Will that break anything - or lose the data that is there?
Thanks for the prompt response btw.

Scenario is:
At the company with this problem - the exchange server mobo went down, and was a week+ in being replaced. In the meanwhile, they installed E2k3 on a new machine - giving it the same name, and restored a backup of the data - they were not able to get this going. Not sure why, but I...
I have just setup a public folder as a mailbox (to get all my companies spam into one place).
The spam filter is the very good (and free) ORFilter from here:
http://www.martijnjongen.com/eng/orfilter/
Anyhow - I created a spam folder in my public folder tree to receive all the spam - but the...
Ah - I had to propigate my folder & admin properties (via exchange system manager) to the subfolders before I could delete them all.

Here is how I did it.
Assigned myself owner rights over the public folder in question (internet newsgroups) - then in outlook from a client workstation deleted the folder itself. This takes some time. Just before it finished deleting the sub-folders, I canceled the delete, and delted the...
I have just setup the nntp part of exchange 2000, allowing - in theory people in the organisation to view some newsgroups.
However, I mistakenly left the "*" in when selecting which newsgroups to add to the feed.
I have now downloaded *ALL* newsgroups - or at least the group names.
How can I...
Thats nice.
Your question is what?
There is too little information to respond in any other way to your statement.
