Yes, I told him that could be a reason. I uninstalled NIS 2005 and it didn't speed up dramatically. I eventually told him to get an up to date OS.
Thank for the response.
A friend of mine has a Windows 98 Machine. He was complaining to me that he thought he had a virus because his machine was really slow.
I told him I'd look at it and found out he had NIS 2005 loaded on it.
Is NIS 2005 that big of a resource hog?
He doesn't have a virus, but I"m wondering if...
I was curious on how you would set NAV for Exchange up to scan inside of .zip files for certain extensions?
We use Exchange 5.5 and NAV 2.17 (I think). We have NAV setup to delete attachments with certain extensions (exe, bat, ect..), but the other day I created 4 files, all 4 had extensions...
I wish I had good news for you, but look at this.

Sorry, you may have to copy and paste that in your explorer.
In about a month we are getting new servers. At the moment I have exchange 5.5 on NT 4.0 platforms on a NT domain. I want to put win 2K on the new servers and keep exchange 5.5.
Are there any compatibility issues with exchange 5.5 and the 2000 platform? Also, what would be the best way to move...
I've not heard of any tools like that either, I'm going to check out the one suggested. One thing you can do is go into the exchange server application log and look for event id #1016. If your wondering about people having access into others mailboxes, I'm pretty sure those events are submitted...
I don't know much about ARCserve, I use Veritas and do fulls on the weekend and incrementals every night. If you only have one server, backup the mailboxes also. If you have more than one exchange server, you can just do the information store, because after a crash you can build a new exchange...
Last week one of my exchange 5.5 servers went down after someone thought it was taking too long to reboot and shut it down hard. I was able to get the IS started again after a few hours, but then I was unable to perform full backup. IS has been corrupted. I made a copy of the priv on another NT...

As of the moment, they can change it if I set it up to prompt them, but they cannot do it themselves.
I'll double check that they are using correct format, but four users per day in two days seems weird.
Thank you.
We're running NT 4.0 Workstations. Everything in User Manager is set correctly. I looked in the check boxes, and in the policy section. It's bugging the crap out of me.
Thanks in advance.
I've had 2 or 3 calls about users, who get notified that their password will expire in x ammount of days. Do they want to change it.
They click yes, put in the required information, but when they hit okay, another pop-up comes up and tells them "You cannot change your password"...
