Much as I thought really.
Of course the place hasn't ever had an AUP relating to email and thats where the difficutly arose.
I'll actually refered to one of the senior leadership team and he's OK'd access this afternoon. So if there is any repercusions I've got a fall...
I work in an educational establishment in the UK and we're currently undergoing a numbers reduction.
For the staff who leave/have left I've got a specific issue and I'm not sure of the position.
All users have data stored on a file server and email accounts.
Now I've been asked to allow...
In principle thats what I'm trying to do. If I set the SS to run on the desktop OU nothing happens. The policy only seems to work when I apply it to the OU with the user accounts.
Pupils don't have any access to change anything on the desktops, no right click, no change the wallpaper, no...
At the school where I work the staff can log on to machines that the kids use and their own laptop.
Problem is that some of them forget they have logged on and leave the machine open with the obvious security issue.
I applied GP for screen saver to the Staff OU and this worked fine except when...
Just to add a bit more the reason that Word or Powerpoint files become large is that when you copy and paste an image it gets converted to a BMP file (gives big file size). Cutting and pasting large images doesn't help either (also big file size).
As has already been said use image app to...
Until recently in the school where I work we have been using Office XP. Last summer break we have upgraded to Office 2003. We now have a problem.
New students are not given access to the internet until they sign a proper usage form and existing users get banned from the internet if they use it...
Pating images into Word is not a good idea as they get converted to BMP format which can lead to large file size.
Always best to paste into Photoshop or something similar, save as GIF or JPEG and then insert into Word
You need to set the locally cached copy of the profile to be deleted when the user logs off.
This will make any user that logs on get a copy of the man profile from the server. Also helps to prevent long login times as there won't be numerous profiles to check.
This is done through GP can't...
Its not necessary for a line per machine.
I work in a school and use a kix script. I labelled each machine in a suite like ICT2-PC01, ICT2-PC02, etc and ICT3-PC01, etc.
In the script have line that checks for first 4 characters of machine name and then assigns printer(s) in that suite based on...
Today was a bit of a toil.
Installing some software on the server that would be accessed by clients via a mapped drive. Everything seemed to go correctly, Win 2000 client no problem, Win XP drive was not available (same user). Same group policy is being applied to all machines on the domain and...
Sorry can't remember where I read it but recall something about 21-25 C.
One other thing thats important is humidity, air conditioning should take care of this. Obviously the problem would be if you had a high RH.
I've tried changeing the options for the proxy etc in RP and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
We have aproxy ant I tried putting in some not existent proxy but it still seemed to connect.
I'll try again.
OK at the school where I work we have Realplayer installed for some media files. Only problem is that the little darlings have found that if they access web sites through Mediaplayer they can bypass the internet blocks.
So I want to be able to give them the use of Realplayer to play media...
