You can reset the Nortel 425-24T/425-48T to factory defaults
by using the same STACKING method as the 450-24T.
The software and the HW versions on BOTH switches MUST
be the same for this procedure to work.
The "good" switch with the password cleared MUST be the BASE
unit...
FWIW I had an HP computer that died. I purchased a Dell Optiplex 960 used, installed a new hard disk, and installed
XP Pro (because I like it) and then I tried to install Office
2003 Pro OEM. This is the original CD that came with the HP
The install went fine, the Key was accepted just fine...
A short answer to your problem is most likely this: You had two DHCP servers trying to service DHCP requests from your PC.
Without getting into technical details about allocating IP addresses to specific servers and all....generally speaking you should only have ONE DHCP server in your network...
We need a forum on Alcatel switches
I have an Alcatel OmniAccess 4324 that I need to know the default username and password for.
I also need to know how to clear or reset the password once
I have connected my PC to the console port of the 4324.
If anyone can help, please reply.

Just to add my two cents, I found a nice utility that is free but the name of FASTRESOLVER. It will show you all the IP addresses and the MAC addresses and host names after you type in a range of IP addresses that you want scanned. Example:
192.168.1.1 192.168.1.254
You can also bring up a...
Every one is correct. Use the Serial straight thru cable,
you may need a gender bender to plug into the 450-24T.
9600 baud, 8bits, No parity, 1 Stop bit.
Do yourself a favor and get a copy of ProComm for your
terminal emulator. It is SO MUCH EASIER to use than the
Hyperterm crap.
Power on. You...
I have been working with these two models of Lucent
for the past 4 years. I have never seen any manuals.
I have never successfully configured any of the ports
or cards.
Lucent used to offer some VERY expensive training
classes for these models, but I could not afford them
and my boss could not...
I get my refurbished 3Com switches from www.lordsnet.com
for very resonable prices. They can break the password if
unknown, and run stress tests on the ports to ensure you
get a working switch. They usually offer a 30 day replacement warranty. They also upgrade the Opcode to the
current version...
When I installed a few PC's with 10/100/1000 Nic's on
our very old network there were a few PC's that were
very slow on retrieving data from the server, and surfing
the web. When I looked at the port on the switch for these
sluggish PC's I could see the activity and collision Leds
flickering...
One way to find your EXTERNAL ip address is to send an
Email message to yourself. Once you have used your Email
client (Outlook for example) to download the message, you
can right click on the received message and select
"Properties". Look for the line that starts with:
Received: from...
I have been using Panda Titanium and Platinum on all my home computers for the past two years. I am very pleased at Panda's ability to catch, block, and remove virus pests.
At work, we have installed Panda's server version on all the servers, and they in turn push a Panda client down to the...
There is so little knowledge about Lucent 9000 and CBX500
switches. Documentation is hard to come by and support is
VERY expensive from Lucent. As the previous post said,
version 4 is old.
There is a newer version 8 of the Opcode that I have seen cause the processor boards to constantly...
For what it's worth, the exact same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I have Adelphia as my cable/broadband
ISP, and they had "disabled" my connection because they claimed that their software had detected a MUCH HIGHER than normal amount of data going to and from my address.
To...
Are you saying the you have to log in twice??
Kind of sounds like this PC belonged to another domain
and was then physically connected to your domain. Could
you supply more details about your existing network and
the history of this PC??

Yes, you are on the right track. WinXP Pro will create an
account during install of "Administrator" by default, with full admin privs.
I believe WinXP Home creates an account named "Owner" by
default with full admin privs.
Since hackers automatically try "Admin" and "Administrator"
when they...

FWIW I also had a similar problem this week and the "problem" turned out to be Adelphia Cable disabling or blocking
web access from my home because their software had flagged my IP address as having a Server, which they claim was causing a very large amount of network traffic to my site...
Do both of the ports that your PC's are connected to on the Linksys router get a LINK light? If they don't, try different RJ45 cables. If you are not seeing the LINK led come on, stop right there and troubleshoot why. Usually a straight thru cable will work; but you could try a crossover if you...
I have a Linksys Router/Firewall/Switch connected to my
Adelphia cable. I have successfully initiated a VPN connection from my home PC to my work PC business computer by placing my home PC in the DMZ zone of the Router. Works fine. The work computers are behind a Win 2003 Server running the...
Try a utility that you may already have installed on your
