Check your PSU, It ideally should be rated at 300W or better for AMD (I assume it is Duron) It is also worth checking both the CPU cooling as AMD are prone to overheating. If these are O.K. it could be faulty RAM.

Have you tried defragging in Safe Mode?, might be worth a try. Or you could search your Windows CD for a file called 'Defrag.inf, copy to your desktop and double click or right click and select install. When you shut down and restart your PC defrag will automatically run before windows loads...
dm7941 is correct, the key you need in the registry is called 'autologon' you can change as recommended by dm7941 or you can highlight & delete it and Windows will then boot up to the logon screen. Its always advisable to make a backup of the Registry before making any changes.

Have you tried reseating either or both the cpu and video card?, I assume you have an AGP Card, these are notorious for creeping out of their socket and more often than not there will be no audible indication (beeps) A badly seated cpu can also cause similar probs, but usually the PC also cannot...
