This is a system I have just recently built and twice it has just shutdown, like it does when you are normally shutting down only it does it at random and causes windows to run scan disk on reboot. You can hear the power supply clicking it off, so im guessing it must be getting a signal to switch off. I checked CPU temp, not that. (40C). All I can say is that both times I have been on the net at the time. Any ideas would be welcome. If your unsure....Dont do it!

May BE a bad power supply.............. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

Check your PSU, It ideally should be rated at 300W or better for AMD (I assume it is Duron) It is also worth checking both the CPU cooling as AMD are prone to overheating. If these are O.K. it could be faulty RAM.

The power supply is 300W and came with new case I bought. The cpu is 900mhz thunderbird. I know 128mb dimm is 133mhz but I`m not sure if the other dimm is 100mhz and is perhaps running at 133mhz. I just assumed it was 133mhz as I didnt think it would have booted otherwise. All parts are new apart from RAM. It`s annoying when it happens as you have no warning, you dont even need to be doing anything on it at the time.Beginning to suspect RAM myself now. If your unsure....Dont do it!
