pctekk,
I assume you are using BE 9.1. There is a very nice utility that the Backup Exec folks shipped with the product. It's located in c:\program files\veritas\backup exec\nt\, its called BEuility.exe.
It has many database utility function and much more. The dump feature is one of them...
Kandanis,
When you say Veritas Backup Stuff, I assume you are referring to Backup Exec. The reason I'm asking, is because Vertias has two backup products. They are very different from each other.
If your company is using Backup Exec, I would highly recommend reading the Backup Exec Admin...
JN,
I thought of another option you might want to try. It might be bit more work, but if you or your team is good with SQL, scripting, and creating web interfaces.
All the SQL report queries for Backup Exec can be viewed through SQL Enterprise Manger. The Report queries are bundled up in...
Actually, I think it is possible to view the reports for multiple servers.
However, you will need to setup BE to run with the Shared Storage Option (SSO). Since you are running evaluation copies, you have an opportunity to configure BE with SSO
It is easy to configure and setup. The Backup...
Our IT department is currently evaluating Backup Exec 10 Beta. So far, we are liking the new Centralized management features. We can see already, that it is going to make managing our 100 standalone BE backup servers a breeze.
I was wondering if anybody else has given it a once over?
M
forshaws,
Try this trick,
Copy the install binaries to the server having BE on it.
Run the BE setup.exe again.
Select - Repair installation
Answer any dialogs the may appear.
Once complete, reboot the system.
Then go to control panel -> Add and...
Madmax123,
I would suggest trying to rename your drives with an unique names, ex: IBM 01, IBM 03, or put a zero in front of the default number scheme. ex: 01 02 03...09

tech2004,
Have installed SP1? and recent hofixes. I think I recall a recent hotfix that addressed an issue with the Backup Exec Job engine service stopping.
m
Ajinsan5,
If I am reading your issue correctly, "other servers (Where BE is not installed)" then this server is a remote server. If this is true, then you will need to install the Remote Agent for Windows for Servers (RAWS)on the box. Once you do, you should then see drive volumes and...
Mich,
Justin is correct, you can register the MSSQL$BKUPEXEC MSDE instance in SQL Enterprise manager.
Also, if your planning on creating your own custom reports. I would suggest opening the BEDB database stored procedures to use as examples for your queries. Also, I would recommend using...
I would recommend putting the Auto loader on a separate SCSI Bus. If this is not option, then I would try setting the SCSI for the Autoloader to 0 and the tape drive to 1.
The first option will greatly improve your overall backup performance. We have found in the past, that connecting...

You may find the BEMCMD.exe tool useful. It’s located in c:\program files\veritas\backup Exec\nt\ . It's loaded with many command line functions.
M
taloola69,
By default the Job histories are deleted from the BE database after 90 days.
This setting can be changed by going to tools -> options -> Database Maintenance.
M
Jnwokena,
The log snipit you provided tells a lot. By chance is your BE 8.6 installation a NSE install? If yes, then you will not be able to upgrade to BE 9.1.
The problem is, there is currently no migration path for your 8.6 BENSE SQL database to BE 9.1.
M
Tiger,
I have performed a number 9.1 upgrades, all with complete success. Whatever install bug fixes Veritas made to this version, they did an excellent job. I highly recommend you upgrade. You will also appreciate all the other fixes they made. Also, do not forget too install the recently...
Raid5,
I assume you are using 9.1, correct? If so, and you are running under the evaluation period. You can use the APPO (Admin Plus Pak option) Copy Job feature.
This feature allows you too copy jobs from one 9.1 backup server to another 9.1 backup server. To take advantage of this...
djackson,
I’m not sure who you talked to at Veritas, but he/she was totally wrong about the 9.0 Remote Agent. It is definitely not compatible with an 8.6 media server. I would suggest, upgrading your 8.6 media server to 9.0 build 4454. Doing so will provide you with the compatibility you...
Cheriiv,
In 9.0, it is very easy to prioritize the job order. Locate your job under the Job Setup tab, right click and open its properties. In the left hand pane of the Properties dialog, click on Resource Order. The next screen is self-explanatory. Just reorder your local job to run...
