Upgrade of my BE from version 8.6 to 9.1 1

Please can anyone help me with this problem.

I am upgrading my BackupExec from version 8.6 to 9.1 on Windows 2000 server SP4. The upgrade finished with Upgrade successful but when I checked my BE, I found out that the upgrade was not carried out. The server has no spcial application running on it. Also there was no error reported after the upgrade run. I have confirmed that the server meets the requirement for version 9.1.

All the other servers in my network upgraded successfully except this particular server and it is this server that I have SP4. What should I do to solve this problem?

What does the bkupinst.log located in the root of c:\windows\ indicate?

It should provide an idea into what happened with the install.

Hi Marverick,

I have checked the bkupinst.log file and it contains a lot of information that didn't make much meaning to me. Most fuctions were called successfully but these information caught my attention. Plz can you explain what it really means.

Will it have caused the upgrade problem?

And if can give me more information on what to lookout for in the file, that will be appreciated.

Jnwokena,

The log snipit you provided tells a lot. By chance is your BE 8.6 installation a NSE install? If yes, then you will not be able to upgrade to BE 9.1.

The problem is, there is currently no migration path for your 8.6 BENSE SQL database to BE 9.1.
