Hi All,
I was able to backup my database over the network using:
BACKUP DATABASE Foo TO DISK = '\\myserver\myshare\foo.bak' WITH INIT
And then I ran a DBCC CHECKDB and it came back fine after 30 mins.

I tried stopping the MSSQLServer service and attempting to copy the file but it said file in use. Also I set the SQL service and any other services that I thought would use SQL to manual and restarted the server. I still couldn't copy the file.

I removed my SQL server and reinstalled it and loaded SP3a after....restoring the master database after that was done with no problems.
I'll reload SP4 after I have finished all my restores.

Is it supported to backup the master db from a server running SQL 2000 SP3a and restore to a server running SQL 2000 SP4?
(I am planning to move all my DB's from an old server to a new one)

No solution recieved. But I found that if i rebooted the target servers in question then the error disappeared for a while...but then eventually comes back again.
Do you mean install and base OS and BAB installation to C: Drive and then load the tape and restore to C: itself ... the same drive from where the restore is running? (Where the BAB is running from?)
