i've already had crappy running machines after a fresh install, i thought it was only me.. i just started useing killdisk (it writes 0's to hd) a free download. killdisk make the hd like it came of the store shelf..every computer i do a fresh install on i killdisk first..i never liked the though...
mtu "maximum transmission units" is always used,installing aol software probly took care of that setting.....
is there a problem getting to sites?
i wouldn't mess with the mtu settings, unless there's a problem

when ever i want to really clean a harddrive i use killdisk, it's free and 3 passes with killdisk passes DOD specs for being clean..

i need some help, i've been trying to make an option on the switchboard i created to automaticaly enter folders (not files) from my cd-rom into my database..
i've been trying to find something to show me the way but i can't find anything.even books i bought when i started the Db says...

boot into safe mode, then run msconfig then check all norton programs in start up folder. then you can reboot and uninstall norton

the newer version is just because of updates from microsoft like maybe sp1 or 2

try starting over again but don't install norton,i've read some people having problems with norton..
running for 15min sounds like it could also be over heating, imaging is cpu intensive.. do you have any...

i did a friend computer over the week-end that wouldn't let me boot from cd (kept getting errors)..what i had to do was deleet partition with 98 boot disk then it booted without a problem..
she has a 15yo son,so the computer was all messed up...

my sister inlaw has a vio laptop
she has a dialup isp,she can sign on and get on line but the browser doesn't go to any web pages.
what i notice though is, in the lower left where it shows the www.yahoo,com, after about a second a .net appears after the .com.it seems to search for...
launch internet explorer
then tools
then internet options
select connections
then select add, next to dialup vpn
then a wizard launches
select broadbrand
then name it
click finish
now high light the acount you just created
selct properties
just put username and password and select...
IT WORKS
all i did was change the ip address of the router, that didn't work by itself,then i change mtu from auto to manual with 1492 numbers and WALA

i forget whether i tried to get too yahoo by the address, but i wrote that down to try.i do believe i put the verizons dns numbers from the ipconfig/all in the router and that didn't help..
i'm going to try to get to the guys office tomorrow before i go to work.i have several things to try...
I already checked linksys's web sites they didn't post any problems.i was talking to an it guy in work and he seems to think it's the router feature on the modem actualy the ip address of the modem, it's the same as the linksys router (192.168.1.1). what do you think?
