I know it's not much of a solution, however most game makers suggest you don't run any virus software and also as little else as possible while playing.
I also had this occur. I think I deleted the profile, then re-added as an Admin account...it worked. I don't remember if it worked after changing the account type to user however.
I have a Comcast cable internet connection. Whenever the connection "burps", a simple modem reset won't do to restore the link, I also have to reboot to be able to bring up web pages. Is there an XP Service or Process I could restart/reset to achieve the same thing?

Hey I take offense to the term "computer jockey". Besides, Win XP defaults to formatting with NTFS which is superior. Anyway, linney is correct.

It's not the complete answer, however I'm pretty sure System Restore is allocating some of the space for recovery images. It's definitely not using all the space you are missing, but you can free the space up by turning off System Restore monitoring for that partition.
Just a comment regarding checking the MS-DOS box in floppy format. I tried this and then tested it. I was not able to perform FDISK or access other DOS commands, I got an unrecognized command error! I currently use a leftover Win '98 DOS startup floppy to perform some DOS utilities.
I tried this and it seems to work fine. I am using Win XP, and I've tried it before in 98, but it wouldn't take. I didn't bother trying in XP. Thanks for your help.
