I want to get rid of XP (Xtra Painful) and go back to my old OS.

1. I need to know first is (the computer jocky who set this machine up set the hard drives to NTFS) can I get these set back to FAT32 for the old OS.

2. Next question is, if NTFS can be blown away, how do I format the HDD with XP on it? I CANNOT make a "startup" disk with XP. I have searched and tried but no go. I really don't want to use XP's disk anyway.

3. Probably the fastest thing to do is buy another hard drive and just do it that way.

4. What I really need ia a diskette that will format anything from A:
If you reply, please don't tell me I'm losing out on XP's features and am not willing to "progress". I'm just trying to do wome work not spend my time RESTORING back to a point that XP does not recognize anyway.

5. I read about something called "filemon". If this file can be found on XP can it be deleted? Since XP is bombing anyway I don't need a log to show how much it is doing so.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Please put into the same order of numbered steps so I can follow, or give me a site I can get the steps/help from.

1. Yes, just reformat to fat32 file system.

2. Use a win9x start up disk. The one created in XP doesn't have all the programs and drivers you need.

3. Up to you but not necessary.

4. Use your old Win9x start up disk or borrow one or make one up from a Win9x machine or download from
5. A reformat will delete everything on the drive or partition you format. Not familiar with a program called "Filemon".

Hey I take offense to the term "computer jockey". Besides, Win XP defaults to formatting with NTFS which is superior. Anyway, linney is correct.
