WHY would the fan spin at full speed when it's cold (initial startup), and not when it's warm (wake from sleep)?
This sounds like a software fault, maybe something that was installed then removed, but maybe not completely?
You might want to check your startup programs and see if there's...
wolluf is half right...it needs to be 'initialized' first. Right click where it says 'Disk 1', then click on 'Initialize Disk'...after it's been initialized, you can partition and/or format the disk
In Win2k or XP, the drive needs to be 'initialized' first...go into drive management (Administrative Tools - Computer Management, in the right pane click on Disk Management). In the left pane, right click on the drive you want to work with (where it names the disk 0 or 1) and click on initialize...
MortaR,
Your two cents in this case is money well spent, and I concur whole-heartedly...
Where else are you going to find a needed driver, or a read-me for that driver, or needed specs so you can place jumpers correctly, or...or...the list is just too long...
I have a start page for IE that I...
yes, I know this is an old POS video card, but it's one that I had laying around, but can't find the book for...
Anyway...
Does anybody know the jumper configurations for this video card? There are three jumpers on the card, but I can't remember which one does what
first you need to decide which file system you're going to use...since you're using WinXP, I would assume you're wanting to use it's native file system...
First, boot with the WinXP install disk.
When it gets to the first screen, it will tell you;
To set up Windows XP now, press enter
To repair...
maybe the drive is unformatted? Or formatted to something that DOS won't (can't) recognize??
Try booting with Partition Magic (or some other partitioning software OTHER than DOS/fdisk) and see if that will let you 'see' the drive
I guess you're running WinXP?
I have to ask...
Did you happen to install SP1??
If you did, try the installation again WITHOUT it. I had the same problem a little while back, but haven't had it since I re-installed without SP1
A friend of mine was having problems with his computer and an AOpen cd-rw...when he would insert ANY disk in the drive, generally the computer would either freeze or do a restart (WinXP wouldn't you know...).
He finally broke down and replaced the cd-rw and he no longer has any problems with it...
