    Outlook boxes Greyed Out

The way I have got around this is by deleting the mail user's profile and recreating it. This is the only way I have managed to get it to work. That doesn't help the problem. I have Outlook installed using group policy, setting up the username and mail server, but I have to delete the profile...

Cannot access other users mailbox since upgrade from Ex2k to Ex2003

Thanks for the help. Turns out it was to do with he exchange server being a dc. After demoting it and reinstalling exchange I had no problems.

Exchange 2003 and DC on same box

You should just need to do a re-install. I did the same and it worked fine TF

Cannot access other users mailbox since upgrade from Ex2k to Ex2003

Hi, Since I upgraded our Exchange Org to 2003, I am unable to access any other user's mailboxes, despite the permissions being set in Active Directory and the Exchange Server on all levels. If permissions are granted on the client then I can access it. Is this normal or a problem. It was fine...

Moving File & Print to temporary server

Hi, I need to rebuild my W2K File & Print server without any downtime for the users. As a temporary measure I intend to copy all files and settings to a temporary server with the same name, recreate all file and print shares (including AD published ones) and then rebuild the original server...

    Exchange 2000 VS. Exchange 5.5

There are quite a lot of differences. The main one being that Ex2K integrates seamlessly with Active Directory, whereas you need to add a connector to 5.5 to get it to talk to AD. If you have 2000 servers on an NT.4 domain then go for 5.5, but if you have, or are planning to have Active...

How do I confirm that E2K SP3 is installed?

Under administrative groups right click the server in question. It should say what build and what service pack it is on. As for the date, I'm not too sure. Tony

Is it ok to install Outlook 2000 on my Exchange 2000 server?

You can install it. It can cause problems with System Manager but there are work arounds. I have it installed with no problem. See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;266418 Hope this helps Tony

    SUS Patches & Standby Mode

I want to set all my PC's to go into Standby overnight but then install any SUS patches it may have downloaded at a set time. If the pc has already downloaded the update, will it come out of standby to install it? If so is there any way of controlling the power options by Group Policy, or do...

    Store.exe eating all RAM

Hi Thomas, Exchange does this by design, using a process called Dynamic Buffer Allocation (i think that is what it is called) If another process needs memory then it reclaims it from store.exe. If you are particularly worried about it set up scheduled tasks at a time with no use to stop and...

    Message boxes on Status Tray

Is there anyway to do this through Group Policy? I have checked but can't find anything? Many thanks

    W2K Service Pack 3

I have loaded SP3 on all my servers after a couple of weeks of non-critical machine testing. All servers, including the domain controllers upgraded fine, and have been working with no problems ever since. I agree, it seems to have speeded things up a little.

    Outlook 2002 (XP) Archiving issue

Thank you for your help, unfortunately it seems as though when a brick level backup is performed it changes the modified date of the message. It seems as though there is no workaround! Thanks anyway

    Outlook 2002 (XP) Archiving issue

I have a strange problem with my archiving. I have set up archiving on my inbox and all subfolders to archive anything older than 6 months. I have double checked that each folder has archive settings activated. When I perform the upgrade my folder structure is recreated, however not one...
