    Can you see the drive in DOS mode ( command prompt ) option. try to format the drive from the command prompt by typing - format d: ( or whatever drive it is ). Once formatted copy some files to the drive in DOS mode. if all this works windows should be able to see it.

    It could also be a virus called SPACES which also messes up your anti virus software. restart with a boot disk and scan from DOS. This will tell you what virus you have. Try Mcaffe , it will also remove spaces .

    Try this Delete all users. Then when asked to login press cancel. You will login as the default user. Install all the software you need. Then when you create the users all the installed software will be available to them. You can also delete the *.acl and *.pwl files in the windows directory
