Here are a few thing you can try, that have worked for me
XP Boot Floppy????
Simply format a floppy on an XP system (this is a must for the floppy to work)then copy NTDETECT.COM, ntldr and boot.ini (if you have one)onto the floppy
You should try the Windows Ultimate Boot CD...
No search for the file and rename it it will cause an error but should cause no permanent harm.

Is this the line in your registry
Global Startup: Run hotfix bat file.lnk = C:\Program Files\REX2XCU\msxml3 hotfix\runhfix.bat
If it is you can try only renaming runhfix.bat.

Redoing the system is such a major pain. As soon as this gets straightened out Ghost your system then the pain of a reinstall goes down to about 15 minutes.

Its late and I'm sorry that I forgot to add this. Some very high end stero equipment uses this same style eeprom to tattle on what made the system die. They can then pull the module at the service center and read it to see what parameters the stero was at when it bit the dust. So, if they can...
This may be a long shot. But, in the back of my head (Way back after teaching high schoolers for 33 years) it seems that one of my charges had a piece of software that he booted his thinkpad with on a floppy from a CD that allowed him to clear the EEPROM. All I seem to remember is that the CD...
This could be being caused by the 2000 PCs. Win 2000 likes to act as the DCHP server. I found this out the hard way when I hooked up my laptop Win 2000 to a very stable lab network of Win 98 machines. When I disconnected my laptop all manner of wierd things happened. The solution for me was to...
Limiting the cylinders is usually done by putting a second jumper on the drive to fool the bios into thinking the drive is physically smaller in MB smaller than it really is.
You still have the same mother board and only changed the processor. That's what makes this so strange.
Do you have...
