I use the Symantec Premium Anti-spam plug-in, which runs alongside Symantec Mail Securities for Exchange. It does cost additional licensing but it stops about 90% of our spam dead.
It uses spam definitions much like virus definitions and it compares incoming emails with its known spam database...
I really can’t believe that Microsoft would not provide some basic functionality in Exchange to automatically add an email disclaimer to every external email. I run Exchange 2003 SP2. Am I wrong? If so, could someone please point me in the right direction.
John
We use ISA 2000 and are shortly moving to ISA 2004. We use Explorer 6.0 across our network with the odd exception now using explorer 7.0.
Currently may users login to Windows using a low level generic login (such as reception desks) but to achieve any accountability for the internet they have...
I have found that if I change the security on the virtual folder to basic from integrated, it works but on my other server under IIS 5, it's set to authenticated and it works there so I’m still confused as to why IIS 6 doesn’t work when set to authenticated.

I’m not an expert on IIS by any means but have never really had any config problems. I have an existing intranet on IIS 5 on a Windows 2000 server and I use a virtual folder on a standard network share to store files that users pull up. Files security is based standard domain user groups. This...
I the changed the IP address of the 'temp server' that did send via DNS to a totally new address and then changed the IP address of 'newly built sever' to the IP address that the temp server was using before (still leaving the network cards teamed). It only went and worked!
I've double-checked...
Brief story. Had an Exchange 2003 server running on Windows 2000 for a few years. Never managed to send mail via DNS, only SmartHost. OS on server started to die so migrated Exchange to a temp server running a fresh install of Windows 2003. All worked well and server even sent via DNS.
Just...
Interestingly the R2 version labelling is only ammended after a server restart after disk 2 has been installed. Also, if you were to cancel the second disk install, you just end up with 2003 SP1 and not 2003 R2.
You learn something new every day!
I have a couple of servers running Windows 2003 R2 and the winver command on both shows:
Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition. Version 5.2 R2 Build 3790.srv03_sp1_rtm.050324-1447 – Service Pack 1)
However I’ve just purchased a slightly later release of R2 (called R2a on the box) and built...
I have an ISA 2000 servr with an exchange server sitting inside on a private IP address. All works fine. I’m upgrading to ISA 2004 but when I change the gateway address of the exchange server to that of the ISA 2004, the mail server can’t ping in either ip address or FQDN.
I have a rule...
Hi,
Good idea but can you just uninstall OWA? And if so, I assume I use the CD to do that, but I've never seen any reference to OWA when I've installed Exchange.
Regards,
John
Hi,
No it doesn't work on the server and we only use OWA internally. It just stopped working either after the old original server was uninstalled or the Symantec Mail Securities was installed.
Symantec are no help and say it couldn't be their software or they'd have had other calls regarding...
Thanks Mark,
I very much appreciate you advice and have tried the settings but to no avail. The settings you mention however do conflict with other sites I’ve come across.
Thanks for the point about ISINTEG. I have used it once before and will try it soon, but the OWA is my bigger issues...
