I am having problems with Spam currently and have an exchange 2003 server scenario. Could anyone recommend a good solution to deal with spam that will fit well with Exchange.
I use the Symantec Premium Anti-spam plug-in, which runs alongside Symantec Mail Securities for Exchange. It does cost additional licensing but it stops about 90% of our spam dead.
It uses spam definitions much like virus definitions and it compares incoming emails with its known spam database and then does what you have asked it to do. My server deletes all know spam but forwards what it’s unsure about to a separate mail box that we check if anyone is missing an email. It rarely every filters out emails that are actually wanted. I have to say, I am impressed with it. We’ve been running it for about four months now on about 100 mailboxes.
Any more questions, just post them or check out the Symantec website.
use RBL, exchange has native support for it, and it is free.
we use symantec mail security only and caught 2500 spam daily, after adding 2 free RBLs, down to 300-400. i'd say 80% are filtered without going through text filtering.
we use Sophos puremessage for Microsoft Exchange. it does all of the antivirus and spam for exchange and then i have sophos antivirus installed as well which handles the server itself.
Yep have to agree with 58sniper. had a client that had same problem with spam set up IMF on there server for them and the spam has almost stopped. Still getting a few every now and then but has stopped the bulk of them. check out this link below
