Thanks for your suggestions. I fixed it.
First I rebooted the VM box. That didn't work.
Then I found the hardware manual for the 124i and figured out how to reboot the phone system (which is basically unplug it and plug it back in - pretty stupid if you ask me). That didn't seem to work. But...
I went through the settings for my phone and made sure that the button was programmed as a voice mail key. Then I went into the phone system settings and followed the procedure in the manual for setting up voice mail and all the settings were correct. Then I went into the programming for the VM...
Phone: NEC iSeries 124i
VM: NVM series
Is there a reason why the voicemail button light would stop alerting us (by flashing green) when a new voicemail arrives?
How would I fix it so that it starts flashing again when new VMs arrive?

I have an NEC 124i system. There was a power outage over the weekend and when I got in this morning all the phones were stuck on "System Start-Up In Progress."
Any suggestions of how to find where the problem might be?

For now, I would like to allow off-premise forwarding.
I agree that a lot of things are complicated, but if I had a programming manual I think I would be able to do most things. Once I found the manual online for the Vangard system, I was able to use it to do whatever I wanted.
The only PC...
I know about the VM system. I do things with it already through the phone and the PC program.
The phone system is set up already. I was just wondering about changing some options. Specifically, right now, I was trying to set up Call Forwarding Off-Premise. The user manual I have tells me how to...
One more thing...
Since we have the programming cable, I could also try accessing the system from a computer, if that is possible (through something like hyperterminal).

We have an NEC i-Series 124i phone system here attached to a Vangard NVM-series voice mail system. We do not have the programming software for the phone system, even though we have the programming cable.
Could somebody tell me how to access the system programming options (for 124i, not Vangard)...
Thanks. First I went into boot.ini and renamed the Win 2K's to Win 2K 1 and Win2K 2 so I knew which one was good and which one was bad. Then I took out the bad one. I figured it would be in the boot.ini file, but I couldn't figure out how to view it. I thought choosing "View all files"...
I just switched from one hard drive to another. I put the second one in and put Win 2K on it so I could copy all my files from one to the other. Now the original drive is removed, but I still have the boot option for both. Is there any easy way to get rid of the one that isn't there anymore...
Goldmine give an error message when trying to open Word 97 by doing mail merge or something of that type.
The error message is something like: 'Cannot locate registry entry Word.Document.6\shell\open'
No, the registry entry is not there. That's why it can't find it. However, I'd rather not go...
Recently had a similar problem at work. We found that the problem was that the PDC didn't recognize itself as the PDC. Luckily, the BDC (being an older and wiser machine) still had our PDC listed as PDC. Basically, the server needed to be rebooted. It wasn't recognizing itself, so 1 by 1 our...
Thanks. I did take it apart once before. Big mistake...does not allow for easily putting back together. Lining up the board and the plastic 'thingy' between the keys and the board was a major hassle. Could be that is the problem, but I didn't have any problems until I put Win2k on, and I took it...
