I think I found the cause. If I restart the smc.exe process (Symantec Management Client for Symantec Endpoint Protection) I can get in. Now I just need to find how to work around it.
These servers are currently pre-production. They are both on the same management subnet and will be serving addresses to multiple user subnets relayed in via helper addresses on the routers. Right now they aren't handing out anything, although I'm sure they could be if the client subnets were...
I added a pair of DHCP servers on Server 2008 to a 2003 domain. When I install the DHCP role, I can use the DHCP administrative console locally, but some time later (after a policy is applied I assume) it won't let me. I did a dcpromo on both of these machines, so I now have a mixed 2003/2008...
I know how to set the 'Set-As-Primary' address for an Exchange e-mail address in AD Users & Computers for people with multiple addresses. My question is, is there a way the user can do this from within Outlook on an individual message basis? That way most emails come from user1@company1.com...
What I ended up doing was to map the drives manually and create a shortcut to the desktop. On reboot, I would just double-click the shortcut and was then prompted for credentials. All I needed was username/password. I didn't need to specify the servername because it was embedded in the...
Hello all,
We have several Windows XP workstations in a workgroup configuration. They have a persistent connection to a mapped drive on a domain-member server. The users are trying to log in to a local account on that server.
Because the workstation password is different than the mapped-drive...
Just set up Web Interface on the local LAN without CSG. You should be able to browse to it once you've established your VPN connection.
You can also install CSG on top of Web Interface and open 443 inbound to that server. This solution would bypass the VPN. You don't 'need' a DMZ.

Here's what I found from Microsoft's documentation:
Memory: minimum 256 MB, at least 512MB is recommended. Go for a Gig at least.
CPU: I've got it running fine on one at 1.2 GHZ, but they recommend 3.0 GHz
Hard Disk shouldn't be an issue as you'll probably get a minimum of 72 GB with a new...
Does anyone know if you can configure a PIX as an in-line device in a pass-through mode. i.e. 192.168.1.2 /C on the inside interface and 192.168.1.3 /C on the outside, so they're both on the same subnet? The gateway would be 192.168.1.1 on the router connected to the outside interface. I've...
Help please,
I’m working on an Exchange 5.5 -> 2K3 migration.
E55 - old mail server, W2Ksp4/E5.5sp4, Norton for Exchange v 2.5, Exchange LDAP on port 390, since it is AD/GC server
E2K3 - new mail server, W2K3/E2K3sp1, Norton Corp Edition v9.0
I’ve run into an issue at the last step where I get...
Are you still having issues? I don't know exactly how the Symantec SMTP Gateway works exactly, but I think this may be part of the issue.
We had a client who installed anti-spam software on his Exchange server and it proxied mail connections to the Exchange piece. The anti-spam software was...
