Well I tried the bios setting first, I disabled it and it enabled itself, so I disabled it again and checked it was disabled during the boot up straight after changing the setting and all was well until the next time I booted up - wake on ring in the bios was enabled again.
So I went ahead and...

Not sure if this is faulty hardware, faulty software or virus activity.
When shut down the pc goes through the normal stuff and turns itself off, then later on it turns on all by itself, but only when connected to the phone line. Also if left logged into windows PC will attempt to connect to...
Thanks Xemus I thought that was the case but I wanted to be sure.
Funny thing is that if I send the attachments to my hotmail then open them using hotmail they are scanned by hotmail for viruses and then I close my hotmail and open my outlook and I have access to the attachments I opened in...
I've just switched to XP Home and Outlook Express removes attachments from Email. For example I have sent an email to a friend using Hotmail and then in my OE Sent Items Box it has my sent messages with a statement:
"OE has removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your...
Wolluf I have had problems doing just that and I found that turning off the PC garuantees no problemsm, it doesn't have to off for long 3-10 seconds will do. To be fair though it is mainly only an issue if you create a partition size that is different from the one you deleted.
Just an important note for anyone using FDISK to completely remove a partition you need to delete it then turn your machine off, otherwise the partition will still remain in memory and the computer will still use it. So between deleting an old partition and creating a new partition you should...
I've asked some of the other thech here and I found out that with Windows XP it's suicide to upgrade more than a couple of devices, because then XP thinks it is an illegal copy and will not run. Windows 2000 is similar but not as bad. I have to apologise as I have only been doing Windows 2000...
Wolluf my biggest issue with the dual boot is that the machine is my games machine and as such has the smallest drive in it.
I don't see the point of a dual boot 4GB drive.
That's right 4GB, why? Because I do a whole lot of graphics work on my othe PC so I want to use the larger hard drive I...
I've asked around and I came to the same conclusion as terryISO, it is possible to insert some extra code using VBA to get it to print specific fields to different areas.
VBA if you didn't know stands for Visual Basic for Applications, it's easy to use if you know a little programming language...
Yeah I'm leaning towards using Virtual Machine, but like I said I'm looking for a solution other than dual booting (partitioning) or going back to win 98.
Yes I know that because of windows 95 & 98 being based on DOS the only way for Microsoft to go forward was really to get rid of the many 95...
Well wolluf
So far I have a 100% success rate.
The trick is to let the windows detect the new hardware when it boots up.
In the case of replacing a motherboard ALL of the motherboard related drivers/devices/chipset/CPU etc will be updated/detected/changed etc.
If you are not going to use...
I have a couple of games that I really enjoy, but I upgraded to windows 2000 and now all I get is the error message "{name of file}.exe is not a valid win32 application"
I have tried using the compatability mode in SPK4 but it doesn't work.
Does anyone have any ideas other than...
