An AutoFilter dropdown list will only show 1000 entries. As a result, in a large database, the AutoFilter dropdown may not show all the items in the column. Do you know how many unique items you have?

jrbarnett, I tried that ethernet cable route. Yes it is cheaper (bar far) but I can keep getting administration problems when I try to actually view the data on the desktop from the laptop. Do you know how to overcome this problem?

Aha I am back now. Cirrus9, usually I am running just the firewall (Sygate) and a AV program. I have since installed a USB optical mouse and the problem has vanished!

Already tried that but had problems editting the MSDOS.SYS file. You forgot to mention how I change the Read Only setting!

Also check whether your in IE 'Internet Options' that the "allow 3rd party attachments" box is unchecked.

Thanx carrr. I followed your link to the SpyBot FAQ and low and behold someone else has had my problem. I've sorted it now!

I tried reinstalling IE6 & WIN98 to no avail. I searched for viruses and spyware, still didnt make any difference. The web page it freezes vary too from MSN.CO.UK to JOBSERVE.CO.UK (just in case you think its on a porn page!)

My desktop PC used to run scandisk if the machine did not shut down properly but now it doesn't. I have managed to add a shortcut to the desktop to run scandisk in Windows as part of the startup process BUT this is not really what I want. I only want it to start in DOS after a failed shutdown...

Can anyone advise me as to what is/was causing my keyboard and mouse to be locked out whilst being on the internet using IE6? I was using the bog standard mouse but have since changed it to an optical USB mouse. Since doing this the problem has 'gone'.

I have used SpyBot previously on my WIN98 desktop but now for some bizzare reason it no longer works. I've reinstalled it ok(?) but on restarting it the screen flashes for half a second and thats it, I cannot run the thing. Any ideas?
