VM ports locking up

VM ports locking up

VM ports locking up

(OP)
A user can lock up a VM port and make it unusable for a period of time if they check their VM messages and inadvertantly make another call without hanging up the VM call, this actually transfers their VM call to the number they are attempting to call.
This occurs in our latest version 1.4.22Anyone experienced this?
Any solutions?

RE: VM ports locking up

Yes,
have experienced this in 1.3.The user was clicking messages in phonemanager and clicking it again thinking it had not connected the first time this made the callers mailbox inaccessible until the park timer had expired.

RE: VM ports locking up

This is user error. As the call to vm is not disconnected properly, the speech path to vm closes but the data path to the vm remains open, hence locking up the vm mailbox for that User.

RE: VM ports locking up

(OP)
This is not user error, yeah they create it, but the software shouldnt allow them to do this, as it is so easy to do, the ports will be locked for hours at a tme

RE: VM ports locking up

When avaya regard the accidental connection of a call requing to reception mearly by pressing hold as a "Feature" I dont think much of your chances on this one

RE: VM ports locking up

GrandMasterOPI, I am merely stating what Avaya told me after raising this with them months ago. It shouldn't lock the port but will keep the Users vm box open. Perhaps this is a different issue.

RE: VM ports locking up

What size IPO & howmany Voice Ports Are licenced,we had a site that regularly locked voice ports for random reasons & nearly kicked ourselfs when we realised the cause (keeping quiet untill I know it is not a red herring to protect the guilty)

RE: VM ports locking up

If you are using CCC then you can monitor the vm ports.
Beside this the cause of vm port lockup may be related to auto percentage recording set against a user or group. The fix has been incoparated in 1.4 2210
