Newbie...need help on how to open the ksu

(OP)
This may sound really silly, but our company has a Norstar startalk Flash and I am trying to hook up music to the system....I can't open the ksu....can anyone help?

The Flash is a voicemail not the main KSU of the phone system. You won't be connecting Music to the FLASH. It is connected to a pair off the phone system. What phone system do you have?

Silly me. Sorry about that. We have the Norstar-Plus Compact ICS 2.0....does that help?

RE: Newbie...need help on how to open the ksu

Yes, the Music should be punched down to the Violet/ Green pair on the external lines amphenol cable.

What does that mean? I Know what the KSU looks like and I have a radio......I know I need some type of connector(would a radio shack carry it?)that will connect the radio to the KSU. But How do I do it in Layman terms? Thanks so much for any help.

RE: Newbie...need help on how to open the ksu

You are going to need a technician to come out and connect it.
You'll need a punch tool and a connector that yes you can get from Radio shack. It has a barrel pin type connector that will plug into the radio headset port, the other end is bare wires that will be connected to the port I mentioned above.

Thanks....I understand a little bit more now...what is the name of the connector so that I may ask for it properly? Is this not something I can install myself? Why not?

RE: Newbie...need help on how to open the ksu

I honestly don't remember what they call the connector. And you can install it if you have a punch tool and know how to punch it down on the correct block. It isn't that hard but most end users don't have punch tools.

The system may need to be programed also.
