Using Norstar Remote Utlilities, how am I able to convert  downloaded data from a Norstar switch and convert it to a spreadsheet (Excel) such that I can print it out? Is this possible and how easy is it to do?

RE: Norstar Printout

Check and see if you have a folder Workbooks under the ICSRT directory, these are excel worksheets that interact with the norstar remote utilities.  When you open one first thing to do is save it as another name since the base worksheet is read only. then go to the ICS menu and configure the worksheet for the system you are using.
A warning to you is that you will need a lot of time to download this from an ICS.  it will take at least 2 hours to do a complete download from a CICS with the larger MICS options taking longer.  Select a customized format to download  and then just download the stations and trunks that you need.

RE: Norstar Printout

How do you download the key system information.  this is very interesting.  I would love to know this one.

I am using Remote Utilities 5.0.  I have that folder ICSRT, but have no WORKBOOKS folder in there.

RE: Norstar Printout

You will need a higher version of NRU.  I suggest getting NRU 9.0.  The workbook will cover ICS 2, 3, 4, 4.1, 4.2 and 5.0 with the appropriate excel files.  I've grown to respect Excel's versatility.  Good Luck.

RE: Norstar Printout

OK when you get the 9.0 and are installing it I would suggest that you do not install it on the default directory since it will delete any systems backups you may have, it did this to me from 8.0 to 9.0.

next select the ics level .xls spreadsheet and open it up in excel.
save the spreadsheet with a new file name (changes it from a read only file to a read/write file)
click on the following four items under ICS on the toolbar.
click on configure workbook. select the variant you are using. If you end up wrong about the variant then when you try to download the file it will tell you the maps don't match and you can change the variant and try again.
click on configure system size and select the system size you have.
click on configure hardware and select the types of cards you have.
click on acquire ICS and select partial acquire. then select the areas of programming you want to download, I select all for an initial download, then select the stations you want to download, the trunks, and the lines, You must select at least one in each area unless you did not select all of the programming areas earlier, experiment a little and you will find out what you can select on it.
Now you get to wait while the computer does a dial up and download. there is a counter and it will show you at least activity.  it will not tell you how much longer you will have to wait but it will be a couple houre i am sure.
