What is your strategy on upgrading CM 7.1 to CM8 without buying a new hardware? Like in CM, can I just download the 8.0 SP1 and patch it?
And also how on the SMGR and SM?

I would start by reviewing the Design documents for the target version of the Aura products, then the install/upgrade guides. These are all on support.avaya.com

This can be a big task - I would recommend checking with an Avaya BP on this if this is your first time around with these tasks.
