Norstar Remote Utilities (NRU)

Norstar Remote Utilities (NRU)

I have an account with a CICS running 4.2 software. The previous telecom vendor changed the installer password from 266344 to something else. I thought no problem I will get my laptop and hook up a Rad and change the password back to 266344. When I try to connect using my laptop with Norstar Remote Utilities (NRU) 11 I get this error (Rad did not respond). I know the Rad works because I tested it on another system with 7.0 software and I can get into that with Norstar Remote Utilities (NRU) 11.

Does anyone know if Norstar Remote Utilities (NRU) 11 is backwards compatible for all software levels?

I did find the following chart

NRU 8.1 is for 4.1
NRU 8 is for 4.0
NRU 7 is for 3.0
NRU 4 is for 2.0

RE: Norstar Remote Utilities (NRU)

Aside from 8X24 and maybe R1T1 they should be but there have been times where an older RAD or software helped resolve this issue.

-Make sure the RAD has a steady light when idle
-Make sure you see the RAD in maintenance
-Check that F9** works
-Make sure you are using the right com port
-Make sure the baud rates match on the RAD and the NRU
-Try using other baud rates but with Direct the 19600 should be ok, lower baud rates over the telephone line help especially on the internal RAD's on CICS.
-Make sure the serial cable is in tight at both ends
-Reboot the KSU while RAD is connected

Somebody I think said upgrading the firmware helped even though it was meant to fix a target line not answering on PRI.

Since we are partners in crime I can help with the initial issue you have.

I will try an older RAD. If that doesn't work I will upgrade them to 7.0.

Thanks for your help curlycord
