eliminate ring group number in 6920 display sets

eliminate ring group number in 6920 display sets

Standalone 3300 MXE111 MiVb 8 embedded voicemail

I am trying to eliminate the display of the ring group number on the 6920 IP sets when incoming calls to the embedded AA are transferred to a ring group.

The display shows the callers number and the ring group number the customer wants only the callers number to display.

I have tried every conceivable combination of display options in COS but cant seem to eliminate the display of the ring group number. It shows callers number on the first line of the display and Group xxxx on the second line. I can of course stop any display information on the sets but we do want to see only the callers number and nothing else.

Has anyone been able to do this.

RE: eliminate ring group number in 6920 display sets

Perhaps if I explain

Car dealership where calls that come in via the AA

option 1 sales RG 5201
option 2 service RG 5002
option 3 enquiries RG 5203

and so on.

The problem is that the sales staff will not answer calls that overflow to them from option 3 so the idea is to eliminate the name from the 6920 sets displays. I have done this by removing the names in the telephone directory but now the incoming calls show the ring group number and of course staff can see which option the call is coming from.

I am only trying to accommodate an issue that the customers management should be addressing but I would still like to find a way to eliminate the ring group number altogether.

There is a COS option Prefer Name for Call Information and it thought ok great I can use this and name all ring groups incoming or something generic and no ring group number will be displayed but even with this enabled in the COS the 6920 sets show the incoming CLI the name assigned in the telephone directory and the RG number !!!!

I am aware that I can resort to eliminating ring groups and use multicalls instead but if anyone has any ideas or has been able to accomplish what I am trying to accomplish please post.

I have been given a Mitel document from the third party support company we use called Display Information on Ring Group Members for forwarded calls"
Document ID QA1616

I don’t think they get it

RE: eliminate ring group number in 6920 display sets

its a management issue - so often we get things like this where we are asked to do
something to overcome the fact that an end use wont do what they are supposed to do.

Why not set the name of the group they arent answering to the same as the one that they are?

option 1 sales RG 5201
option 2 service RG 5002
option 3 service enquiries RG 5203

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

RE: eliminate ring group number in 6920 display sets

Have you tries using Multi-line keys as member of the RG,
where AA Option will transfer to RG with only a multi-line key to all the sets.
The on CoS , play with the Display option - multiline sets display.

Worth the try.

RE: eliminate ring group number in 6920 display sets

I thought looked at your suggestion but even if you name a ring group the ring group number is still displayed and users soon figure out which option it is coming in. There is an COS option called prefer name information or something of that nature and on the face of it this should eliminate the number in a ring group incoming call but when enabled in the COS of the target sets no change. This is with Mitel at the moment.

I may be going down this road but my preferred method would be to use the ring groups if possible. Surly there must be a way to simply eliminate the ring group number from displaying. Remember these are 6920 phones

If I find a way I will post

Thank you both

RE: eliminate ring group number in 6920 display sets

How about setting the telephone directory entry for the ring groups to private? It should then only display the name and not the number. Then you can have the ring group names the same as Billz66 suggested.

I have not tested this. Just a thought.

RE: eliminate ring group number in 6920 display sets

Yep tried than no change. Bear in mind I am setting the COS of both the RG and target sets to the same and only manipulation the one COS. I don't think that the trunk COS comes into the equation.

I was hopeful that the COS option Prefer Name for Call Information description from help files below was the answer but that doesn't work either

Applies to 53xx and 69xx IP Phones. Select "Yes" to display the name instead of number for the following features:

##Call Forwarding*

##Ring Groups

##Nametag Hunt groups

##ACD Paths

##Request Help

##Call Pickup

##Preview Dial out of Queue

##Consultation Hold

##Silent Monitor

* Applies to 5320, 5330, 5340, 5360, and 69xx IP Phones. All others apply to the 69xx's only and includes more features than those listed.

For call forward on supported 53xx devices, enabling the option displays "FROM John Doe" instead of "FROM 1000 ALWAYS". Which helps users to answer more appropriately by showing them who the caller was trying to reach.

NOTE: The number is only removed if the system recognizes it—that is, the number resolves to a name in Telephone Directory.

RE: eliminate ring group number in 6920 display sets

Looks like there is no way to eliminate the ring group number form the displays on 69xx phones and that's that ?

From Mitel support below.

Mitel have provided us with the following update.

Please let us know if we can close this case.

Tried to replicate the issue in our lab setup.

But results are same as expected, unable to skip or eliminate the ring group name in 69XX phones.

I have gone through all related cases and got to know that its a design intend, due to display limitations 53XX series will not provide the complete info where as for 69XX there is no limitations on display, hence it will display the complete info of the caller as forwarding number followed by original number.

Member phones (local or remote) with large displays show both the ring group information and caller name and number when the group is ringing. Small-display phones show either the ring group information OR the caller name/number depending on COS option, Display ANI/ISDN Calling Number Only (see Programming). When the call is answered, the caller´s name and/or number are displayed on the member´s set.

If you want this feature in future releases you can raise a DCR.
