Micros 3700 - How to pop-up to the current (auto) level?

Micros 3700 - How to pop-up to the current (auto) level?

Micros 3700 - How to pop-up to the current (auto) level?

(OP)
So this is driving me crazy - I'm trying to have different prices for each day while also having the ability to define 4 different pour sizes for draft beer.

Auto Main levels 1-7 for M-Su (this is actually irrelevant - I think to this question)
Sub levels for prices
Pint price is the price for the day (sub 1-7)
Taste = sub 8
32 Growl = sub 9
64 Growl = sub 10.

That all works - but I can't figure how to go back to the sub level (1-7) on each day of the week. So if after I order a taste (press taste button - sub level 8) it switches back to the auto sub level of the day. I can pop-up to a particular day but not the current one.

Help?

RE: Micros 3700 - How to pop-up to the current (auto) level?

i think you need to set daily Auto menu levels and set them accordingly in the pop ups
IE Auto level Monday Main level 1, sublevel 2
You then need to make time periods (Monday 8:00am to 11:00pm) and link it to the auto Menu levels Period

RE: Micros 3700 - How to pop-up to the current (auto) level?

PS Personally i have always found it easier to work with using menu items for the different sizes and not doing it through the menu levels.
PSS I find using the discounts gives you more flexibility when changing prices daily/etc and even during the day. You also dont need to deal with menu levels where you can get stuck some times as you cant have two menu levels running at the same time (say you have a daily drink special $2.00 off craft beers and your happy hours is $1.00 off. Using time periods your daily craft beer special will change to $1.00 off during happy hour.)
Cheers

Thanks for the feedback - I've got it set up for Main 1, sub (day of the week) and then a button changing the sub when I need to tell the system to sell a growler or a taste (sub 8 -10). But I can't get it back to the starting menu level.
The key question is - Is there no way to tell the system to go back to the auto menu level that is in place for that day of the week? Or am I missing something simple? I can tell it to go to any one in particular but not figure out which one is the active one for the day?

Seems like an unnecessary complication for a sim to read the menu level and then re-set it (not sure if this is even a thing).

RE: Micros 3700 - How to pop-up to the current (auto) level?

See me post above. If you want to automatically pop up to different menu levels each day you need to set those menu levels to active in auto menu levels. The alternative is you could use a key but would need one for each day.

Sorry if I'm not being clear. Auto levels are turned on and operating correctly.

Challenge: Different price every day for beer item - Tuesdays and Sundays price is reduced. (Price reduction is not standard - just the final price).

Solution:

Auto Menu Levels
Mon Main 1 Sub 1 - Monday Period (defined as all day Monday)
Tues - Main 1 Sub 2 - Tuesday Period (defined as all day Tuesday)
etc...
Works no problem. Pulls prices 1-7 depending on day of week.

Challenge 2: Sell different sizes of beer item every day (taste, pint, 32 growler, 64 growler)
Solution:
Manual menu level change keys to use menu levels 8, 9, 10 for taste, 32 growl, 64 growl. Daily MI price (1-7) for pint.
This is pulling the correct price.
Problem: After changing the menu level with a key, I can force the system to pop back up to any level. But I can't figure out how to have it pop back up to the currently programmed auto menu level. Therefore I can't have it go back to the correct price record for the day automatically.

Wednesday for instance it goes to Auto Level Wednesday defined by period Wed (all day) calling Main 1 sub 3. So I order a beer and it pulls price 3. This satisfies the need to have a different price for that beer every day of the week. All good. When cust wants a growler 32 I have a "Growler 32" button which switches the sub to 9. Then you press the beer button. Pulls the #9 price. All good.
Problem is I can't then automatically go back to the Auto Menu level of main 1, sub 3. (I can set it to do just that but as soon as it's Thursday it's not going to work).

What I need is a way for the system to pop back to the auto menu level that's in use. Seems like such a simple thing to direct it to do but I haven't found how short of manually telling it to go to level X or tendering the transaction which is not an option.

I worked your suggestion of utilizing auto discounts on the 2 days where the price is non-standard. (GREAT SUGGESTION!) But because I'm changing price down to a set level across the board rather than a set level discount this won't work.

The only other solution I can think of is to split off the Wednesday and Sunday specials. Creating an entire set for Wednesday (single priced beer item) and one for Sunday as the price is different for each day ($4 on Wed $5 on Sun). I can set these items up only to show on an SLU on the correct day but this is really messy and is going to be a nightmare to maintain. {Edit: I guess I could do this with only one set of menu items using ML Class and multi prices.} Still.

Any ideas?

RE: Micros 3700 - How to pop-up to the current (auto) level?

ON Auto discounts you can set a discount off, a percent off, or a new price (and many other options)
You can also group it by items, groups of items, reporting classes etc.

On Wednesday in POSCONFIG is Menu Levels, Auto Menu Levels set to pop up to Main 1 , Sub 3?
In POSCONFIG RVC Transactions check your pop up settings.
I think there is one more setting...trying to find it.
Make sure your Touchscreen style is not set to stay down. in touchscreens.

I'd be curious to discover how you can set a different price. The % and $ are pretty clear but not that.

On Wednesday in POSCONFIG is Menu Levels, Auto Menu Levels set to pop up to Main 1 , Sub 3? Yes - that's how it's pulling the correct price

In POSCONFIG RVC Transactions check your pop up settings. If I set it to pop up to a specific level it won't work during the rest of the week. Setting it to blank doesn't have the desired effect of having it fall into the default.

I think there is one more setting...trying to find it. YES???? smile

Make sure your Touchscreen style is not set to stay down. in touchscreens. Yep. All good.

In the end you were right - as soon as I split off my "Size" menu items and got rid of the menu levels for them and went simple - I used a menu item for each "Taste," "32 Growler" and "64 Growler" and then used a standard set of modifiers things got easy. I then simplified my menu levels for sub 1-7 for the days of the week. And it all worked out.

I would LOVE to find out if this were possible somehow though. I mean it seems like something tons of people would need?

Thanks for the help. If you've got any other suggestions let me know.
Cheers!

RE: Micros 3700 - How to pop-up to the current (auto) level?

For the discount you want to use the "Price substitution" option as the rule type.
Glad you got it working.
It does work the way you were doing it though...some how.
We used to use level 1 as main price, level 2 as happy hour, 3 as double, 4 as Monday special, 5 as Tuesday special etc.
And had it working.

RE: Micros 3700 - How to pop-up to the current (auto) level?

(OP)
yeah but it sounds like you were using auto menu levels for all of that. It's the manual menu level change buttons that mess things up. I'll have to check out the price substitution. I didn't see that - maybe my micros is too old. But I'll take another look for sure. Using the auto discounts then are you showing a discount on the guest check or does it just adjust the price. - I'll have to test with that. Sounds like a great alternative to some of the craziness of Menu Levels.
