Phantom Rings

(OP)
Hi - all. I am having a problem with phantom ringing on all of my analog lines connected to my Avaya IP Office system which is using Rel 8.1 software. In March we changed to Comcast as our Service Provider and now we get these Phantom Rings on all of our lines occasionally. It is very random but does hit all lines every so often. Comcast says not their problem. Well we didn't have it before the switch over. Has anyone else run into this issue and if so, what was the fix or work around? Thanks for any insight.

To Holdmusic34: I contacted the Comcast service department and the "surly" technician told me that their equipment doesn't have an MWI feature that he can turn off so therefore the trouble with the Phantom Rings must be at our end. If you have any other ideas I would sure love to hear them.

RE: Phantom Rings

He is wrong, they do have that feature as I ran into this same issue in thye past, call back and ask for another technician.

RE: Phantom Rings

You can test it with a plain analog phone. Connect it to the line. If you hear a clicking noise, usually at regular intervals, the MWL is the problem.
