Console doesn't work on Avaya G450

Console doesn't work on Avaya G450

(OP)
Hello everyone

so basically i'm been trying to connect to the console of an Avaya G450.
I'm using putty to get the display.

But it doesn't seem like i'm being able to input anything from my keyboard. Is there anything special I need to download or have to be able to configure the Avaya?

And sorry if I'm double posting of anything. I'm still new in forums and even more new to Avaya.

Thanks!

RE: Console doesn't work on Avaya G450

No...
But a G450 has a Console port that is RS232 and a Services port that is effectively an IP console port that does exactly the same thing.

Google up or look in the FAQs for a pinout - it's a little different than a Cisco rollover cable.

RE: Console doesn't work on Avaya G450

We static ourselves to 192.11.13.5 255.255.255.252, use a straight through cat5e cable into the services port and then putty into 192.11.13.6

RE: Console doesn't work on Avaya G450

As joe2938 stated, you have to change the IP of your PC/Laptop to 192.11.13.5, subnet 255.255.255.252 AND set the default gateway to 192.11.13.6, then you can connect the PC/Laptop to the services port on the G450 with a straight through cable and PuTTy into 192.11.13.6 on port 22.
