3641 wireless phone on 406v2

3641 wireless phone on 406v2

I have an 406v2 and have almost successfully added a 3641 wireless phone. I am not running an AVPP because my wireless router handles QoS.

I have been able to connect the phone with no issues. It shows the extension number and pulls the user name from the server and displays it. At this point, everything looks like it works. Unfortunately it doesn't. When I dial an internal extension, it says "Unobtainable Disc". When I dial a external number, it says "Waiting-For-Line".

I didn't think a license was needed because I have other VOIP desktop phones setup with no issue. It's just this wireless one is not working.

I figure I'm missing a setting somewhere. Hopefully one of you have had this setup in the past and can shed some light :)

RE: 3641 wireless phone on 406v2

"Unobtainable Disc" & "Waiting-For-Line".
Take a monitor trace with only the default "Call" filter with "Shortcode" enabled.
Then look what number the phone dials, it looks like is is adding a extra digit or so like a "9".

RE: 3641 wireless phone on 406v2

I checked the trace and it doesn't look like there are any extra digits. It has the correct extension number that was dialed and even converts that number to the user's name.

It looks like the problem starts with the line CMMap: Mapper:: AllocateCodec unable to allocate resource.

I attached the trace results to this post.

Could it be something in the extension or user settings?

RE: 3641 wireless phone on 406v2

asking the most obvious question first
does the 406 have a VCM?

RE: 3641 wireless phone on 406v2

Good idea to get the obvious out of the way but yes it does have a VCM. I had that in there from a previous remote user setup on a VPN and a voip desk phone.

This phone connects to the wireless router, the tftp server, and to the ipo.

Take a look at the monitor trace. It resolves the other extension i'm trying to call, but it ends up saying "unable to allocate resource" in the trace. Does that mean it can't grab a line?

RE: 3641 wireless phone on 406v2

In the error message in the monitor trace it seems to indicate the resource it can't allocate is the Codec... in the extension for this phone, under the VoIP tab, what codec(s) do you have selected?

RE: 3641 wireless phone on 406v2

ACSscott, under compression mode, it is set to "Automatic Select"

Now back to VCM, I do have a physical VCM installed. It was working in the older 403 I pulled it from. I just opened the system monitor and it shows VCOMP=0. I think this means no VCM ports??

RE: 3641 wireless phone on 406v2

All, It must have been in a dream that I took the VCM out of the 403 and put it into the 406 because I didn't do it in reality. Once I put it into the 406, everything works great! I feel kind of dumb right now...
Sorry to have taken up your time and thank you for your responses!

Thanks for manning up to the mistake.
We all have done something similar or worse.

No, I've never upgraded the wrong system and then wondered why I couldn't see the new settings! A Star for the honest feedback - information and feedback help the forum be useful.

RE: 3641 wireless phone on 406v2

So I nail the cause of the problem & the OP gets the pink, how does that work?
