Norstar and Off Premise Message Center.

Norstar and Off Premise Message Center.

Norstar and Off Premise Message Center.

It appears that the Norstar is capable of allowing an Off Premise VMS to register a message on a phone. The manuals indicate that you can program the necessary number the system needs to dial to reach the off prem. VMS. It also shows that you can specify which set will receive the message indication for a given line. What I cant find out is what the Norstar is expecting from the Off Prem. VMS to trigger the message indicator.

Has any one else tackled this feature.

RE: Norstar and Off Premise Message Center.

...are they referring not to any off-prem voice mail system, but to a Central Office-based voice mail, which outputs a stutter dial tone? The systems (Nortel or others) then check periodically for dial tone stutter, the presence of which triggers the message-waiting light.
