I had a problem with my VMPro 5.0.25 which was installed on my DC along with the PM.

I started to get some errors after I restarted the server, "Socket bind failed port=50791......Only one usage of each socket address is normally permitted)

I could not find what other service was using this port, so I just reinstalled VMPro on another server that is located in the same subnet but a different Windwos domain.

The IP Voicemail again. I just changed the ip address for the new server where VMPro was running in PM and everything was good.

Well not quite, I now cannot get the SMTP working. This may very well not be an IP issue, but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

As I mentioned before, I can get the voicemail to the VMpro which is located on another server on the same subnet, but different windows domain. I get the following error when I do a test from the IP Office Voicemail Pro SMTP setup:

"Failed to connect to mail server (SMTP), error 10061"

I'm sending it to a Lotus Notes Domino server. It was working fine from the same server, as I had the IP office and Domino on the same server. It was actually working OK before when I orginally had the VMPro on the outside server. But there nothing I can do to get past this error. I've searched all day.

If anyone has experienced this please comment.

Thanks in advance.

Socket bind failed port=50791
This indicate there are two programms using the same socket ip port : 50791.
The prot is in use and another program tries to claim the port.
Use this tool to see which program is using that port : Or at the command prompt, type netstat -an

Failed to connect to mail server (SMTP), error 10061
This error seems to be like the above, the error indicates a socket error on port 25(SMTP), the port is already in use or unaccessible.

Both errors can be firewall related or you have a infected pc with malware/trojans or whatever. I assume that is not the case.

Hello intrigrant,

Thank you for the tool. I will use it in the future. I had orginally upgraded to VMPro 5.0.25 to see if that would fix the problem, but when I could not get the SMTP working on the other server, then I just did a complete uninstall on the original server, restarted and reinstalled a fresh VMPro 5.0.25 installation. That solved the problem. I guess the it must have used another port with the fresh installation.

However, this tool will help for when it happens again.

Again thanks. Good day.

intrigrant,

Great site. There a few utilities that I will be able to use for troubleshooting future network problems.

Again many thanks.

Glad i could give some help, the tools are very good for solving problems.
