Creating color pallets in Corel X3

Creating color pallets in Corel X3

Creating color pallets in Corel X3

(OP)
Hi All,
Sorry in advance for the long post...

Corel Draw has a number of different kinds of color pallets. .CPL's
I want to create a "fixed" color pallet for use in corel. I know that there is a pallet editor and that I can make pallets with many different color models with it. I need to make a "named spot color" pallet like the Pantone or TOYO color pallets.

Here is the problem, The only way to make an actual spot color in the editor and have it seen as a spot color is by editing or adding to the "Custom Spot colors" pallet. (userink.cpl)

You can tell it is an actual spot color because it has the little white square in the lower left corner of the color chip and the name shows up in other programs.

However, If I leave the spot colors I make IN the spot color pallet, they sometimes duplicate themselves with new names such as: SEAFOAM duplicating as SEAFOAM(1) or SEAFOAM(2).
I have been able to make a new pallet and add my previously created spot colors into it too but the names will not stay when I export to other programs.

What works: spot colors made in Corel's Custom Spot color pallet... and All "FIXED" pallets. There are many problems with the spot color pallet but I have had no problems with the fixed pallets.

I know that when Corel made them they are nothing more than CMYK values and NAMES, but they have something else that is different about them and that is what I am trying to get at. I want to be able to make a fixed pallet.

Sorry again for the long post.

RE: Creating color pallets in Corel X3

Here is how you do it

Right Click on any palette property and go Palette->New
Choose location and name and type for your Palette

Click Save
----------------------------
On your New Palette click Options Box (located on the top of the palette) and choose Edit -> Palette Editor
--------------------------

On the opened window click Add Color
There you can pick your color from any source even from another palette, after you made up your selection click on Add To Palette then click on Close

Then Select you Color and in the name bar Enter you desired Name but dont hit Enter (DO NOT HIT ENTER) then clik on AddColor the Close Again and your name remains as entered.

For the rest of the colors you can simply click on another color so the selected name remains the same

Cheers

I am a Corel Fan!atic. (NAH)
