Download PCL-Macros in the Flash DIMM of a HP-printer

(OP)
I'm trying to download my macros to a Flash DIMM. It works with the program HP-ADMINJET. But I´ve a lot of macros and a lot of printers and there is only one admin who could download the macros with HP-ADMINJET (and only if he´s got time for it). For that reason I would like to build macros with the HP-PJL-commands (storing on Flash) included. I want to send them with ´copy/b´to the Printers (HP-LJ 8510). I'm able to download these macros into RAM, but not having any luck loading them in FLASH. I called HP with this question, and they're not sure either. The only thing they did was posting a documentation of the HP-ADMINJET. They were nice, but not helpful. I found the PJL FILE SYSTEM COMMANDS in the HP PJL Technical Reference Manual but all the examples didn´t work. I had a look at the datastream of the HP-ADMINJET, which I printed to a file. But no success.  Any more ideas would be appreciated.

I manage a lot of Lexmark-Laser-Printers and there no problems downloading macros on their harddisks. The Lexmark Filesystem seams to be much better ...

There was a thread with nearly the same problem 3 years ago but nobody gave an answer. I hope I´m more lucky this time.

Thanks,

Oliver

RE: Download PCL-Macros in the Flash DIMM of a HP-printer

Hi,

we have a small tool (FreeWare) which might do the job (No support form us!)

Install teh windows version, start PPAdmin COntrol center - Administration - Set the software into the DIMM Mode - APPLY
- exit PPADMin - restart PPAdmin

now the download button in the macro register is selectable.

Hope it works out
Thomas
