HP laserjet 1200 power off

Just installed laserjer 1200 and can not find a power off button or a way to place the printer in stand by mode

That is because there is none. 1200s (and the 1100s and 5&6Ls that preceded it) stand by in between print jobs - they never power completely off. To turn them off completely, unplug the power cord.
