POS System for small beverage company needed

POS System for small beverage company needed

Hi Guys,

Hoping you can recommend the best (and most cost-effective) POS system for a new take-out beverage company.

I'd like to be able to keep track of our inventory, as well as print off receipts for the customers, while at the same time printing off a work order for the beverage makers.

I heard that the e7's are a good single terminal stand-alone, but I am guessing the price is prohibitive.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

So many to choose from!

My suggestion; search the internet.  If you are computer literate an "out-of-the-box" software solutions that works with off-the-shelf hardware you can set-up on your own to do just what you want.  Printing a reciept and an order requisition to the bevarge makers is standard fair with all systems.

Maybe check out the following "big players".

www.forsycorp.com   (silverware pos)

I have seen on e-bay all-in-one packages -- as above, this may suit your needs.  One price gets you the hardware, software, and a little bit of technical support if needed.

One thing I would be careful with is be very clear with any sales people you deal with.  I had one bad experience with a POS system that was "supposed" to do "everything".  One of these things was to download updates for products over the internet -- we have since learned this is not the case & never was.  We learned our lesson.  If the sales people "say" it will do something, then call them on it and tell them you want to see it.  Make a checklist of all the important things you want as requirements and get them to show you all of those things in a demo.

I have heard about the new e7 from Micros.  From what I understand it runs on a WindowsCE platform.  From what I know of WindowsCE (compact edition) version 4.2 has a limitation of 32 simultaneous processes.  Whether or not this is something to sway your decision making, I'm not sure.  This is the same operating system that some of the earlier pocket-pc (palm type hand helds) were platformed with.  If you want to use the POS unit for things other then POS, such as Word Processing, email, etc... you may run into compatiblity issues with this operating system, but then again, it may suit your needs perfectly!

I'm an Aloha POS Sales Person.  I work in the Florida market I would be happy to answer any questions.

We use the e7 and we like it quite a bit. It allows you to track sales quite accurately, but it is not very good for reporting on the cost of goods sold.
On the other hand, it has the ability to give you an 'availability' of each menu item. If you enter a starting amount, it will count down every time you sell one...in case that's what you're looking for.
I believe it will handle your printing requirements with ease..

If you know your way around a computer here is an excellent pos system that will meet your needs. I have used it for many years without fail. Beware it is FREE!!!
