I just recently upgraded my ZoneAlarm Pro to version 3.1.395. Since the upgrade, ZoneAlarm wants to connect to the internet automatically on system and/or program startup. I don't want this to be the case. Any ideas on how to prevent this.
I would think that it has nestled itself into your startup programme list. Try the following:
START-RUN-type in MSCONFIG-hit ENTER-choose STARTUP-uncheck ZONE ALARM-APPLY-REBOOT
Did it work?
BTW, I still find it hard to believe that as many people as ZA reports are trying to hack into my system. Mine says 3624 intrusions of which 1171 were high rated. SENILE.COM found... Out Of Memory...

I went to the Zone Alarm website on an issue of my own and read their FAQ on the new version of Pro. According to them your problem is a known issue and they suggest a workaround. I don't remember it offhand, but it's there in the Support section of the site.
They couldn't help with my issue, though, so I'll post it here. Ever since I installed Zone Alarm Pro I've found that I can't open any PDF files in Internet Explorer. I can right click on them and download and then open them, but I can't left click and read them online.
This wouldn't be a big problem, but I'm trying to fill out one of the IRS's online PDF forms. It allows you to fill it in when it's on their server. Then you save it to your hard drive, fill it out, and mail it in. But once you've saved it to your hard drive the interactive element is lost.
Seen the commercial where the guys are watching an automobile assembly paint line...and suddenly the gun spells out KIKO?
Then the scene changes to a 9 or 10 year old girl on her computer and her mother's saying, "Kiko, dinner's ready!"
From what I've seen from the youngsters, I don't think this is a stretch. They're very bright...and maybe it all is about power, I dunno'...but they are definitely working their will in ways we're seeing.
FWIW I have just installed the free version and this happens to me.
Exitting ZoneAlarm and re-enterring while in IE &/or Outlook leaves ZA with a big yellow X in the SysTray and probably no protection. I couldn't tell because my newer ISP does not zap me. UK2.NET does all the time.
The only way I could get ZA without the X was a re-boot.
Does removing ZA in msconfig and invoking from the Start neu alter things? It does the way I did it!!!
Wish I understood your last post. Dunno what KIKO is. Aint seen the commercial here in UK. Cannot find REALITY.SYS. Universe halted. Phil Please tell me if the answer I gave was helpful or a mere bus ride out. Without your feedback I won't know.
DOH! ............. OK! got it, the penny finally dropped (old Englsh phrase, to do with access to a public lavatory. After inserting the penny into the money slot of the locking mechanism on the door, you had to wait for the penny to drop before you could open the it). I've never understood why you use the word penny in the States.
I had to reread my post first then it made sence. Put it down to dementia .............................. Now where was I? SENILE.COM found... Out Of Memory... Phil Please tell me if the answer I gave was helpful or a mere bus ride out. Without your feedback I won't know.
