Is there a zip utility in Win2000 where I can zip folders from the command line?

Thanks for any help,

Steven

Check this link for all available dos commands
Zip utilities are usually third parties software, but I believe that xp has it (someone correct me on this please)

There is no place like 127.0.0.1

WinZip also has a command line utility as does PKZip but I don't know if you have to use the "purchased" versions or not to access them.

Yes, noobietech, XP has a file compression utility built-in. Don't know if it works in command line thou...

WinZip has it as a add-on for a purchased version which would not be a solution for me :(

Thanks for the help guys.

I think I will try and track down a freeware zip.

Winzip can definitely be automated from the command line, without the command line addon. I know its not free software, but I'm sure the same tactic could work with other software.
A good free zip package I use and recommend is ZipCentral,
although I have never tried to automate it via the command line.
