Have an Iomega Zip 100 - bought when I was using Windows95. Bought new CPU and installed 98. Inserted Iomega install CD, I get get an isinst30 GPF. MS troubleshooting says to disconnect mswheel.exe program in system configuration utility found on the startup tab in sys tools. No such program is running. Iomega explained it as a problem with their install CD not being compatible with 98, but new updates on their site should fis this. I downloaded all their new updates, still doesn't work. When I power up the CPU, I have to immediately plug in the zip and reinstall. Every time power goes off, drive disappears. Iomega refuses to accept this possibility. Zip icon may appear briefly on startup on desktop, but then it's gone. Whose problem is this??

try using Add New Hardware option (in the control panel)instead of using the iomega CD to install the drivers, but first remove old drivers in device manager. if this does not work send me line.

If you've upgraded to Win98, you don't want to use the old CD for the drivers. Go to <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> and download the most recent drivers.
Jeff
masterracker@hotmail.com

Of all the things I've lost in life, I miss my mind the most ...

Zip drive and Windows NT Workstation: bizzare behavior after installing memory.

I recently added 64MB of RAM (total now 128MB) to an NT PC to increase performance. Ever since, my SCSI Zip drive has been flakey. I can get it to work with a variety of tricks, but the tricks don't carry through a reboot.

Some examples:
1) if I change the SCSI address, NT recognizes the drive on reboot and I can use it until I reboot again, after which I get a "Media may have changed" error. I can toggle back and forth between SCSI IDs and the drive always comes back on the first reboot.

2) install the Iomega software. Drive works OK after installation and final reboot is complete, and works forever until I power down or reboot again. If I reinstall the software, the scenario repeats.

When the drive stops working, explorer still sees the physical device and I can right-click eject it, but it just can't read known-good disks.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks.
