I need to enable 5 people in one our departments to use one mandatory profile stored on a server when they log on.
One, is it possible and two, if so how can this be achieved??

Any help will be appreciated, as i have just been told there is a rush on this.

Many Thanks.

So this is a domain environment?

If so you just have to set each user's roaming profile location (AD in 2k server, user manager in NT server) to the mandatory one on the server.

Hi Wolluf, yes it is a domain enviroment and i did what you suggested about pointing it to the mandatory profile on the server but still had problems.
i created the profile on a client pc and then copied it to the server using the 'copy profile to' option in xp. i can go onto another pc and logon using the same name as i did when creating the profile and alls well. But when i logon using a different name but still pointing to the same mandatory profile, the desktop is different (ms ofice shortcut bar doesn't appear) and the start menu layout (new xp start menu instead of classic) is different.
I hope this explains a bit more.
I am correct in creating the profile on a client pc and then copying to the server??
Many Thanks.

Yes - well that's what I would do (have done on NT domain, works fine) - definitely using the copy profile feature.

Questions. You did remember to rename ntuser.dat to ntuser.man?
The user details on the server are defintely pointing to the same place to pick roaming profile from? (are you using a local name - eg, C:\users\profiles\mandatory1 or a share name, eg \\server\mandatory1$ to reference it)?
You did give relevant users permissions to the mandatory profile folder (and everything in it)?

Yes i have renamed it to ntuser.man
I am using a share name to access it.
The permissions are the same for the two users in the folder.
Would it have anything to do with the default user profile on the pc?

Another thought, when copying the created profile to the server using the 'copy to' feature, do i have to click change in the permitted to use option and then add the required users there, thus making them all use the same profile.
