XP updates

Hello:
I did a fresh install of XP home on a AMD machine. Everything went fine until I try to update it. It keeps coming up with error code 0X800C0008. I went to the knowledge base and typed in the error code and did what they wanted to. Basicaly it says my computer clock is off. I checked in the Bios, I checked in the control panel, I even sync it with windows. No luck....

Found this for you as per updatexp.com...

If you have error 0x800C0008 and the date is NOT your problem, then copy and paste the following into your browser, hit enter, let the page load then close and reboot, then try the Update website again:

https://a248.e.akamai.net/v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/getmanifest.asp

You could look at the following as well as it can give that error code..

Open Internet Explorer
Click on Tools
Click on Internet Options
Click on the Advanced tab
Scroll down to the Security Section
Unselect "Check for server certificate revocation"
Reboot the machine

Now open Internet Explorer and try the Windows Update site again.

Check these settings in Internet Explorer, click Tools, click Internet Options, and then click Languages.... If this box is empty, add at least one language.

Check the Event Viewer for any further clues and errors

Your problems with time, if it is in fact your problem, I wonder whether daylight saving ending/starting in various parts of the world this past weekend caused any problems on your machine?
