Riddle me this..

Our admin assistants suddenly began having trouble with Word and Excel (2K2). I have two workstations that I intetionally installed SP2 on for evaluation - neither one is theirs. Automatic updating is fully shut down on all workstations. I noticed XP2 was installed on the assistants workstation when I started troubleshooting their Office issues..

So, I walk around the office and ALL of the workstations have SP2 installed. I find it unlikely that the users are lying to me when they say they didn't install SP2 on their workstations, and even more unlikely that EVERY user would do so.

Anyone else run into this - or did I sleep-drive into the office over the weekend, activate SMS and distribute it to every workstation on the network?

David

All of the Hotfixes distributed post-Service Pack 1 have an SP2 designation.

Open Windows Explorer, Help, About Windows. What is the minor release number shown? If SP2 is installed it will show Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158: Service Pack 2

Anything else means that SP2 is not installed. Be careful too, as Office has its own Service Packs, including Service Pack 2.

The System Properties page will soon tell you what level of Service Pack you have installed.

You didn't have a visit from Bcastner's cat over the weekend, did you? That "moggy" can install SP2 blindfolded.
