I would read this carefully ,seem that there is, a slowdown problem after installing SP1.

I had to do a reinstall because of this, sooooo I guess i'm not the only one that had this problem.

Check out this link. Please let us know if the advice we give is of some help.

I too have noticed this slow down.

Is the fix out for download or just from Microsoft support?

The S is for Slow in XP SP1
Unearthed by Mark Evans

I knew I wasn't nuts, though opinions vary. Windows XP Service Pack 1 consistently drags my notebook to a slow crawl. Others have reported similar results, while just as many insist I'm imagining things. The issue seems to be particularly prominent on Pentium 4 systems, as Microsoft has changed the memory management system with SP1, though it's not that easy to pin down. My notebook is a PIII-M 1.13GHz and the slowdown is very noticeable. Applications affected are those that allocate and deallocate large memory blocks very frequently. I wouldn't necessarily classify my notebook as such, but clearly, something is out of whack. The hotfix has not been generally released, so you'll have to contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) if you want to give it a try. I'll report my own results if/when I get my fingers on the hotfix, but please don't email me asking that I send it to you. Microsoft gets bent out of shape about other distributing their fixes, and in the case of potentially conflicting fixes like this, they want to restrict it to customers actually experiencing the symptoms.
