Hi
On a computer with XP operation system the compiled clipper program was running fine, something has changed and now it says "System not suitable to run Dos"
Can anyone give me a clue of what has to be done. I even tried to run "Edit" from the Dos Prompt and it will not run and the same exact message comes up.
I apprciate your help.
Thanks. Sam

What will not run, "Edit" command or the Command Prompt?

How do you run the Command Prompt?

Does your Clipper program call DOS commands in any way?

What happens if you just type C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe in Start->Run menu?

We can get into the command prompt by typing 'CMD' in START -> RUN ...
as we are in the command prompt when we type in EDIT, it will not run the edit program and instead it gives us the error message. The fact is that it does not even load the clipper compiled program. The operating system says "The system is not Suitable to run Dos ..." as soon as we try to run the program.

Did you try other DOS commands in the prompt?

To me, it looks like something wrong with the DOS prompt itself (or may be some library it is using), not the Clipper app. Can you try it on another XP machine?
If it works there, may be on your machine Win XP has to be reinstalled, or at least cmd.exe and appropriate .dll copied over if they can be located on your Windows disk.

Yes in the same office, the same clipper program did run ok on another computer with XP. There must be something wrong or corrupted on the Operating system. I will try reinstalling the XP.

Thanks for your reply.

The problem was with the Autoexec.Nt file that was corrupted. After replacing that file it is ok now.

So it was the system, but all is even simpler that I thought. Nice to know. Glad to hear it works now.
