I have a Dell PC with 3 SATA Drives (C,D and E). They are non raid drives. Drives C & D function normally and I have no problems. The E drive (which is identical to D) will often become corrupt. XP will report that the drive has either become disconnected or corrupt. I then run chkdsk in a dos box with the /f/x params. There are never any errors or damaged files reported and normal usage resumes when I have done this. Everything is up to date and virus free so does anyone have any sugestions or fixes for this error ?

Thanks in advance...

Who made the drive? What manufacturer?

Most drive manufacturers have a diagnostic utility program for drives they have manufactured, which will check the drive for more possible error conditions than a typical CHKDSK will identify. Check the support section of the drive manufacturer's website for such a diagnostic utility.
