does anyone know how to remove those icons on the task bar in the lower right hand corner next to the clock??? I can't find how to remove them permently.

You probably won't be able to get rid of all of them permanently....at least I don't know of a way :). You CAN get rid of the inactive ones by right-clicking on the taskbar and clicking Properties, then check the "Hide inactive icons" check box. The ones least used will then disappear. The ones that don't disappear after a few days will probably be have to be set somewhere in that particular program's configuration settings. Sometimes, however, that's not an option and the only way to get rid of the icon is to uninstall the program that's creating it.

Howdy:

Depends on what they are running.. First of all, open the program itself.. Most programs have a user option to stop the program from starting with Windows. Just enable or disable as the case may be..

next, take a look in Start>Programs>Startup.. Anything you see in there that you don't want starting with Windows just right-click and delete..

Lastly, as a last resort, go to Start>Run and type in msconfig Now, click on the startup tab.. Uncheck the programs you don't want starting with Windows.. apply and okay out and reboot !!
