Windows does not shutdown by itself. Being retired, not up-to-date with how-to's. I am running a week old new stand alone desktop running Win XP PRO w/SP2 from my home computer. Two days after running the new system, I get the following message when trying to shutdown:
End Program WMS Idle
The only way to close down the system is with the close down on the message screen. Not critical, but a nuisance. Hoping someone can assist this old man with an easy how-to fix. Thank You.

According to Microsoft it is a known bug in an update that was originally pushed out last summer. Run your Windows Update (start, All Programs, Microsoft Updates) and run through all the updates. That should fix the problem. Good luck!

Cheers
Rob

The answer is always "PEBKAC!

Rob,
Thank you. This "PEBKAC" will not only get a new chair, but will try your solution this weekend. Hopefully, the Microsoft hotfix will work. Again, "Thank You" for the quick reply.

Hi,
A new one for me, I've always used

'Picnic'

(Problem in chair, not in Computer)

Or

BESAK
( Between seat and Keyboard)
