Hi All,

here's my setup. We have an NT4 network with various policies being given to users on NT4 workstations by ntconfig.pol. We are about to upgrade a bunch of NT4 PCs with XP Pro. Currently users are roaming but we have no need for this so I am planning to make them local.

My question is: does ntconfig.pol apply to the XP machines when they log on to the exiting NT4 network?

I need to apply a few policies to the users and machines they log on to. I could apply them using gpedit.msc but may not need to if the settings are coming from ntconfig.pol. Another alternative (assuming ntconfig.pol does get merged) would be to start off with a blank ntconfig.pol (where does this come form?) and then to apply the policies using gpedit .msc.

what do you think. help mucho apprceiated!

Hi,

thanks for the pointer - I am trying to run XP desktops in NTserver environment- from a quick scan the article you refer me to is XP in WIn2k environment. It does still have some useful stuff on group policies. thanks
